The reviews that can be found online for the Alpen 15-45×60 w/45 deg. eye piece, Waterproof Spotting Scope are quite good.  Most of the reviewers agree that this is an excellent scope for the price.  One of the reviewers talks about spending a few hours in a local sporting goods store to test and compare a number of different scopes.  After trying several different models he narrowed it down to the Alpen and a Nikon Prostaff.  He states that the image, clarity, color and sharpness were indistinguishable between the two.  He also states that the Nikon was ever so slightly brighter at full magnification but the Nikon was $150 more expensive and the slight edge in brightness was not enough to justify such a difference in price.

Not all of the reviews were fantastic.  One person stated that they were a little disappointed in the performance of this scope.  This person said that they could not maintain focus when changing the magnification setting.  They felt that in a good spotting scope you should be able to increase magnification without the need to refocus.  Another reviewer stated that it was hard to focus with just one finger and focusing also required too many turns to quickly go from the closest to the longest focal distance.

The reviews for the BARSKA Benchmark 25-125×88 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope are mixed.  We researched about a dozen websites and read several dozen reviews for this scope.  There were some people who loved it, some people who hated it, and the majority were right in the middle.

The people that left positive reviews say that this is a good scope for the money.  The screw on pistol grip and the lens cover attached to the bottom of the unit are nice accessories and some of the people that use the scope for birdwatching and wildlife viewing seem pretty satisfied with their purchase.  However, even a number of the people that left positive reviews agree on one thing that the people leaving negative reviews have a problem with.

Although the BARSKA Benchmark 25-125×88 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope is able to magnify up to 125x, just about everyone agrees that it is blurry and nearly impossible to focus at this magnification.  Nearly everyone, whether they liked the product or not, agreed that the BARSKA Benchmark Waterproof Scope is only good up to about 75x magnification and not really useful beyond that.

The people that left negative reviews were not as nice about it as the people who seemed to like this product despite its significant flaw.  Many of the negative reviewers also added that this product looks and feels cheap.  This is not an expensive scope and these people were not expecting miracles but they were expecting better quality than what they received.  The optics of the BARSKA Benchmark Waterproof Scope are subpar because everyone agrees that getting a clear image at anything more than 75x magnification is simply not possible.

The Bushnell Trophy 20-60×65 Waterproof Spotting Scope seems to be a very popular product.  We were able to find a lot of reviews for this product on a number of different websites.  The reviews for the Bushnell Trophy 20 are outstanding with just one drawback that we will get to in a minute.

The reviews for the Bushnell Trophy 20 are coming from birdwatchers, nature lovers, hunters, and even competitive shooters.  Many reviewers agree that this is probably the best scope in its price range and is comparable to a lot of scopes that are far more expensive.  The images at all zoom levels are crisp and clear and many of the reviewers told stories about how they put this scope through its paces both in testing and in actual use in the field.

One reviewer said that he took it outside and looked down a country road and was able to read the street sign and street numbers clearly from 440 yards.  Another reviewer told the story of taking this scope to Yellowstone for wildlife viewing where he watched two grizzlies eating a bison carcass at 100 yards away.  At 40X magnification he was able to see all of the teeth, claws, and hair blowing in the wind.

A few of the reviews were very positive and a lot of people believe that you cannot get a better scope without spending a lot more money.  One reviewer states that the color and clarity is impressive and things looked sharp even at 60x magnification.  The Tasco World Class 20-60 has good quality optics with very little visual aberration except at the highest magnification.

The reviews for the Leupold Sequoia 15-45X60Mm Angled Spotting Scope 54534 are fantastic.  There were not as many reviews online for this product as there are for some others but every single review we found for this product gave it 5 stars.  Many reviewers commented on the quality of this scope and believe it will be with them for many, many years.

All of the reviewers seem to agree that the Leupold Sequoia 54534 has excellent optics that let you see bright, crisp images.  This scope is small and light weight so it is easy to carry with you all day but it is also very well-built.  One review came from a member of the U.S. Army who says that this scope is “worth more than it cost and was probably the best piece of tactical equipment I’ve ever bought”.

One problem is that the tripod that comes with the Leupold Sequoia 54534 is not the best.  This seems to be a recurring problem for many scopes on the market.  It would probably be best to use a higher quality tripod because stability is crucial at high magnification.

Aside from the tripod issue no one seemed to have any problems with the scope itself and in fact most reviewers are extremely happy with the Leupold Sequoia 15-45X60Mm Angled Spotting Scope 54534.  The overwhelmingly positive reviews we found online make it very easy for us to give the Leupold Sequoia 54534 a very high recommendation.

The reviews for the Barska Gladiator 25-75×100 Waterproof Straight Spotting Scope are pretty good, but not fantastic.  The things people like about this scope are the fact that it is reasonably well-built and that it is very bright.  One reviewer said that the scope is as bright or brighter at maximum zoom than an average scope is at its minimum zoom.  The extra light that this scope brings in is very handy in dimly lit conditions like viewing wildlife at dawn or dusk.

There were a number of issues that some reviewers had with the Barska Gladiator Scope.  The main thing that people have a problem with was just the sheer size of it.  One reviewer stated that trying to mount this scope on a tripod is like mounting a cannon on a step ladder.  Not only is it big but it is very front heavy.  So much so that even when mounted on a tripod it has a tendency to shake and vibrate and no matter how good the optics are, a shaky lens at high zoom will make it difficult to see anything clearly.

Another thing that just about everyone a problem with was the tripod that comes with the Barska Gladiator Scope.  The tripod would be more suitable for a small digital camera and is completely useless for a big, hefty scope like this one.
